Associative Complexes

When blended with other polymers or phenolics, POLYOX™ water-soluble polymers can create adhesives that bond to glass, steel, painted metal and paper. They can also contribute to the performance of pressure sensitive and solvent soluble adhesives. POLYOX™ water-soluble polymers can increase the strength of water-borne adhesives by modifying rheology and improved substrate wetting. They have a wide pH tolerance range.

Billboard Adhesives

POLYOX™ water-soluble polymers provide excellent adhesion to paper and polymer materials, good wet tack and good formulation consistency.

Hot Melt Adhesives

ETHOCEL™ ethylcellulose polymers form hot melts that are easily heat-sealed. They add strength, especially where stresses may be applied to a freshly-sealed joint. ETHOCEL™ polymers are used on hot melt package sealing adhesives and for bonding laminates of paper, cellophane, metal, foil, glassine and many other non-melting sheet materials.

Labeling Adhesives

POLYOX™ water-soluble polymers provide excellent adhesion to paper and polymer label materials, good wet tack, and good formulation consistency.

Paper Converting Adhesives

The distinguished combination of wet-tack, viscosity, residue-free dissolving, extensional rheology and release performance makes POLYOX™ water-soluble polymers optimal for tail-tie and pick-up adhesives. POLYOX™ water-soluble polymers can help formulators not only to improve productivity of paper-converting processes but also to increase consumer-acceptance of the final product.

Thickening for Adhesive Formulations

METHOCEL™ cellulose ethers are efficient thickeners, requiring low proportions of polymer addition to achieve increased viscosity. METHOCEL™ polymers have good solubility profiles in both water-based and selected solvent-based systems.

POLYOX™ water-soluble polymers are also used in water-based wallpaper pastes. These polymers provide wet tack and ideal formulation consistency.

Wood and Paper Glues

The strong hydrogen bonding affinity of POLYOX™ water-soluble polymers lets these polyethers form association complexes with various polar compounds such as phenolic polymers, mineral acids, halogens, ureas, lignin sulfonic acids, lignosulfonates and poly (carboxylic) acids. These novel complexes often form very strong intermolecular associations and can serve as the basis for excellent adhesion in wood glue formulations.

WALOCEL™ CRT is used in wood, paper and wallpaper glue. It is an excellent choice for more porous surfaces compared to alternative products thanks to its anionic character. In addition it has similar structural properties to wood and pulp products as it is derived from the same origin. This helps strengthen the connection between the glue and the surface it is applied to. Through its thickening properties, WALOCEL™ CRT keeps the glue in place and prevents it from running from the applied area.
